From the 25th July 2012 Balvicar stores came under new management! Wendy and Chris Dugdale, a local couple, are delighted by the opportunity to run this ‘heart of the community’ business. Centrally situated on the Isle of Seil in the village of Balvicar, Balvicar Stores is currently open Mon-Fri – 8.30-7, Sat- 9-6 and Sun- 9.30-2.
We carry a wide range of groceries and household goods as well as offering chilled and fresh food. We now have more local suppliers – Sorcha Bakery supplying fresh bread and rolls daily and vegan treats (Cheese scones, Cinnamon buns, doughnuts etc); locally sourced veg from Ardmaddy; Seil bake house freshly baked organic bread – plus handmade cards and paintings from local artists.There is an exceptionally well stocked off-licence with beers from local and national breweries as well as wines and spirits from round the world.
The news agency carries the usual range of national and local papers plus magazines. If you are coming here on holiday you can order your papers and magazines in advance by email. In fact, you can order your shopping by emailing us before you leave home if you want.
There is a wide range of goods available in the frozen and chilled cabinets, including delicious local beef and lamb. Hot snacks and coffee are available.
Other services include Calor and Camping Gaz for yachtsmen or motor caravanners, maps and local guidebooks, coal and kindling for your fire and much more.
